Policeman

Richard Castle born in Basingstoke 1838 ( Bunnion Place and Basingstoke Common, stated as places of residence ). His mother was Hannah Castle 1816 ( unmarried at birth ). He joined the Police Force, beeing based at Wantage, joined July 19th 1856, he also had time residing at the prison for awhile, he married Elizabeth Spanswick of Eastbury in St James of Eastbury, on Feb 2nd 1862. He resigned on Nov 10th 1862.

Elizabeth had a relation who was Special Constable Spanswick, who was on hand at the incidents of The Thrashing Machine Breaks.
