Full Description

The busy scenes along the River Itchen at Southampton: docks, shipyards, wharfs, hulks. Reflections on Bitterne as the possible site of the legend of King Canute attempting to stem the tide. An inset woodcut shows the house in St Michael's Square which is now Tudor House Museum, accompanied by a fanciful historical sketch of the property.
