Dodging the bombs.

by Brian Pond

WW2 and the blitz was heavy on Portsmouth and District. Dad was serving in the Navy and away. We lived in Portchester and spent many an hour in the Anderson shelter. Mum decides to do a temporary move back to Grans at Wonston for a while. We did so, and the first night there a German bomber came nearby and blew up the pub at Goodworth Clatford, (a short distance away as the crow flies). Do you think they knew we had tried to escape ????? :-)
