Copy of an illustration from a section of The English Illustrated Magazine 1888 page 376, called "Racing the Mail", from a chapter entitled Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by Herbert Railton. The story of three coaches racing between Liphook and Petersfield like chariots. One coach was driven by the narrator, an old coachman. The other two coaches were The Regulator and The Hero. The Hero won, the eight mile journey taking 20 minutes. Three of the horses of the winner, never came out of the stables again!
